About SARD 

Since 1992, SARD has been a trusted leader in Somalia, delivering humanitarian relief and sustainable recovery through community-driven programs, now operating in eight regions with over 100 staff and key partnerships like FAO and UNICEF.

The Somali Association for Rehabilitation and Development (SARD) was established in April, 1992 to address the humanitarian calamities created by the prolonged conflict and natural disasters in Somalia. At the peak of the civil war in Somalia between 1991 and 1993, SARD was among the leading local organizations that spearheaded in the efforts to alleviate the suffering of the vulnerable people.

Over the years, SARD has grown into a large organization with over 100 professional staff members covering eight regions in Somalia. SARD has embedded itself with the beneficiary communities and built its image and trust through transparency, openness and community involvement in all its programs and activities.

Currently SARD works in partnership with FAO and UNICEF among others.

Vision

SARD’s vision is a food and nutrition secure, healthy and educated community in an environmentally sustainable and socially inclusive society.

Mission

SARD’s work is to ensure food and nutrition security, universal access to education, improve the overall health status of peoples, promotion of peace and preservation of human rights, environmental conservation and rehabilitation and support development of policy and institution for confronting human challenges in order to empower the population in an inclusive and holistic manner.
